Sonja Priller is a photographer who has run her own studio in Vienna for 25 years. Her artistic work focuses intensely on nature. Her nature portraits are characterized by light, form, and presence—moving between natural clarity and abstraction. They bring tranquility, depth, and connection into rooms. Art as a form of self-care.

Landscape

Reed belts, wet meadows, pastures, and dry zones form a unique landscape and cultural heritage around Rust – a habitat for birds, plants, and countless other species. We reflect this abundance in our wines and our nature photography. Looking closely helps us better understand the landscape, the seasons, and the wine.

Flourish – Framed Nature

Flourish – Framed Nature is Sonja's brand for artistic nature photography. Flourish depicts nature at every scale: from a thumb-sized floral detail, captured in high magnification, to a wide landscape by a lake. The images are not staged; they emerge from mindfulness—on walks, through repeated visits to the same locations, and in waiting for the right light. They are designed so that one can always discover something new within them. Nature can be consumed. It can only be understood in relationship.

The vitalizing effect of nature

We are part of nature. We originated from it, we live from it—and yet most of us spend our days indoors, surrounded by screens, noise, and pace. Flourish brings nature back into these spaces in the form of imagery. That this is effective is well-researched. Even the sight of nature is proven to reduce stress: cortisol levels and blood pressure drop, mood improves, and the mind recovers. Studies from hospitals show that patients with a view of nature—even of nature imagery—require fewer painkillers and recover faster. And because persistent stress weakens the immune system, every one of these breaks also relieves the body’s natural defenses.

Works & Editions

Flourish nature portraits are produced as fine-art prints using pigmented archival inks on cotton paper or canvas, with each work individually made to order. Limited editions such as "Echoes of Light," "Light Paints," and "Bloom Tableaux" are released in small runs with a hand-signed certificate of authenticity. The open editions—Abstract, Botanical, Green, and Wild—provide an accessible entry into the world of Flourish. The Bloom Pieces are handcrafted visual objects in which photography, color, and craftsmanship converge.

Vital Art

Under the name Vital Art, Sonja develops nature portraits for spaces where people seek tranquility: for private homes, medical practices and therapy rooms, as well as for the hospitality, architecture, and interior design sectors. Light, colors, and organic forms feel familiar. They slow down the gaze and create a connection to nature. In her art consultancy, Sonja curates images tailored to a specific space and its purpose.

Wine & Art

For us, wine and images come from the same landscape – sometimes even from the same moment. For the "Harvest Moon" series, Sonja photographed a single Blaufränkisch berry during the grape harvest and inverted its colors: it glows like a moon. The same grape adorns the label of our Blaufränkisch. Each wine in the Analogue series also features its own unique image motif. The same principle applies in the vineyard as it does behind the camera: look closely, be patient, and treat nature with respect.

Flourish is a visual meditation – an invitation to rediscover the essential in the present moment. The series combines artistic nature photography created from a deep resonance with the surroundings. In a world that overwhelms us with fast-paced images and drives us relentlessly forward, these mindfully created works offer moments of calm and clarity.
